A peek look at our new school
Our new $2 million school is nearing completion and we are excited that we will most likely be in our new classrooms at the start of next term. Our new building will have six teaching studios around a huge central common area. Here are some photos of what it looks like so far!

This week the Junior Team have been conducting experiments and making observations. We have investigated what happens to water on different surfaces and also the changing states of water.
We found out that water can be absorbed into some surfaces and that it is repelled by other surfaces.
We also made predictions about what would happen when water was heated and cooled. We watched water as a solid melt back into a liquid when it was heated. We also watched water become steam when the liquid was heated further.
Micah told us it was like the water cycle and that we could see condensation on the glass, just like when the sun heated the water in our terrariums.

Shared Morning Tea
At Avenel Primary School we are trying our best to make our school sustainable. We have been looking for ways to reduce the amount of rubbish at our school.
The Junior School Council came up with the idea of organising a morning tea to share our ideas for homemade, rubbish free snacks.
We had a fabulous time sharing all the yummy treats that people had made. We had muffins, pancakes, Steph’s mums famous chocolate cake, fruit salad, crackers and dips, slices and cookies.
The Junior School Council is now working on putting the recipes into a book for everyone to take home.
